How to decorate the tops of the kitchen cabinets

Many home designs today are more spacious and open. One of the latest trends in kitchen design allows a certain amount of space between the top of the cabinets and the ceiling. Most of this space measured anywhere from about 18 to 24 inches deep.

Determine if a theme for the space you want. For example, if the kitchen is decorating in a coffee house theme, the same design could be easily carrying in the space above the kitchen cabinets. Try to keep everything in the top of the cabinet generic in design. Cover the top of cabinets with plants or silk flowers or choose some generic pieces of beautiful pottery.

Mix and match ideas to add interest and depth to the room. For example, using both baskets of greenery and some dishes or mix color ceramic mosaic pieces wonderful texture.

Apply a wallpaper border near the ceiling just for the closet space. This will add an extra sense of depth to what you choose to highlight in closets.

Painting the wall space between the top of the kitchen cabinets and ceiling a different color for the eye to space effortlessly. This will help highlight what is choosing for display within the space. Another option is to bring the ceiling color down in space to create an unusual depth to the space.
