Mosaic is one of the oldest forms of art, which consisted of
creating different images with small pieces of glass or stone. Very nice images
from various corners of the world have endured to be revealing by contemporary
archaeologists. They have concluded that before the rise of the Roman Empire
mosaic was use to illustrate customs, legends or religious beliefs and their
influence lead to the emergence of patterns.
However, even after that time, mosaic art is still
using in churches, in personal homes or
public places to represent different scenes of hunting, myths, or themes
provided by the Christian religion. Although most of the eastern world, being
an important decoration of mosques or the homes of the wealthiest people on
earth, the mosaic element is still seen in Western culture, too.
